Devin Bush Out For Season With Torn ACL

In Pittsburgh’s blowout win against the division rival Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Steelers inside linebacker Devin Bush suffered a torn ACL, per Adam Schefter.

Devin Bush will undergo season-ending surgery to repair the torn ligament. The second-year linebacker exited the game before halftime after landing awkwardly following a missed tackle.

The Steelers drafted Devin Bush 10th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. The former Michigan Wolverine posted 89 tackles, one sack, four pass deflections, two interceptions, and one defensive touchdown as a rookie. Upon entering today’s game against the Cleveland Browns, Bush had 19 tackles, half a sack, and three pass breakups in 2020.

The Pittsburgh Steelers turned to third-year player Robert Spillane to fill in for Bush; Spillane finished the game with four tackles.

Spillane more than answered the bell … guys that make plays in special teams, that’s usually a precursor to making defensive plays.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said postgame, per Brooke Pryor:

We’ll put together a formula in the interim. Believe it.

Devin Bush has made a strong impact for the Pittsburgh Steelers since being drafted. Bush is even one of the best players on the team, according to edge defender Bud Dupree who had this to say regarding Bush’s injury:

Devin is a great player. High-effort guy. He’s one of the best guys on the team. any time you lose a guy like that, it’s a big blow … prayers up to Devin as he goes through this recovery.

The Cleveland Browns Proved They Were Never Contenders

The Pittsburgh Steelers are now 5-0 and first in the AFC North. They face the Tennessee Titans (4-0) next week.
